LIMITED QUANTITY AVAILABLE
If you’re looking for a beautiful personalized gift AND a piece of history with a fascinating story, this is the most unique item in our shop.
Why is this driftwood so rare and special? Because it is from ancient trees that are several hundred years old and journeyed another 100+ years to the shore. Much of Michigan was covered in large, old growth trees that were unfortunately logged for their virgin timber. The last lumber mill closed over a hundred years ago, but the sunken slab wood continues to travel to and within the Great Lakes where it is beautifully preserved in the cold waters. The wood is weathered by the storms and waves of the Great Lakes and then periodically washes up on shore. The old growth wood is more dense and has more than 10X the growth rings of rapid growth wood found today. Due to this fact, the wood grain and texture of each piece is incredibly beautiful and it’s historic journey adds to the extra rare quality of this driftwood.
All of our artwork is hand engraved (no computer or digital engraving), freehand with the imagery and content of your choice. Signs are drilled and strung with durable twine for hanging (or can be omitted upon request).
Please feel free to reach out with ideas or questions about your custom engraving, and we would be happy to help provide ideas and recommendations for layout and content.

Please reach out if you’d like something larger than the available sizes listed.
**PLEASE NOTE**: If you have a preference for a certain size, shape or color of driftwood based on photos within our shop, please let us know and we’ll do our best to use materials similar to your preferences. We are limited to the driftwood and sizes we have available and cannot guarantee availability of preferences. Also, please remember, part of what makes our artwork so special is that no two pieces of wood are the same, and so everything is one of a kind.
